comScore Voices Blog Scores 6th Place in Top Market Research Blogs of 2011

conScore Voices Blog

Guess what?! Today’s the day when I post where another one of the market research blogs placed in my top 10!

Are you not sure what this “top 10” is all about? Every week I post a quick blog review for one of the top 10 market research blogs of 2011 and show where that blog placed in the top 10.

Incase you haven’t been following these stories from the beginning, take a look at the articles when I first revealed the top 25 blogs, “The 25 contenders for the top 10 places“, and also when I revealed the top 10 blogs, “The 10 Finalists“.

NOTE: Using my original list of top 10 blogs, I rank the blogs in order from 1 to 10 based only on my subjective analysis of their market research related content. Please comment if you disagree with my methods!

In 6th place for top market research blogs of 2011 is the comScore Voices Blog!

What is this market research blog about?

comScore Voices Blog is a professional blog owned and run by the well-known market research company  … comScore.

“comScore is a global leader in measuring the digital world and the preferred source of digital marketing intelligence. Through a powerful combination of behavioral and survey insights, comScore enables clients to better understand, leverage and profit from the rapidly evolving worldwide web and mobile arena.” – comScore.com

The comScore blog is a big draw to the comScore website, in my opinion, by offering research report-like stories that often appeal to a general audience as well as marketers and researchers.

The comScore blog has been running since early 2007 with interesting new articles posted more often than once per week. The list of bloggers has grown to about 15, so even though the stories tend to have a similar “comScore blog” structure, they come with a variety of opinions and knowledge. The knowledge of the blogger usually comes out clearly near the very beginning or very end of the articles where story background information or overall insights are presented.

Overall this blog is a marketing tool for comScore, but it offers a lot of interesting articles for the everyday market researcher.

What makes this blog good and what makes it bad?

Because this blog has been around for quite some time (relative to other blogs), there is a large vault of information to read through from over the years. Their articles usually include colorful charts, videos, or links and always give some sort of insight written around the findings. The blog is updated with articles usually more often than once per week, which keeps the vault of articles replenished with new stories.

comScore has a fairly active Twitter account (@comScore) as well, which helps to promote their blog content and stay engaged, even if sometimes it is clearly a marketing engine.

Something that is very unusual for company branded blogs is the interesting list of “blogs we read” that comScore has included, but of course they can’t list any of their direct competitors’ blogs.

I would recommend the comScore blog to every market researcher out there, especially if you are a senior manager of a company. The reason I say this is because they are one of the very few market research companies that know how to create fantastically-smart industry-related content on their blog and market it to the right people.  Just keep in mind before you read the blog that you might become engaged in the blog of one of your own competitors.
